🔥 Sauna Review #1 — Belfast

🔥 Sauna Review #1 — Belfast

Our journey begins at a small  B&B in a quiet setting ,which was converted 10 years ago from a beautiful house, approximately a 10-minute drive from Belfast Airport.

The visit itself was unplanned—I had intended to visit a friend in Belfast, but things did not go as expected and, sadly, we did not end up meeting. Still, wanting to make the most of the trip, I decided to go with the flow. I came across this lovely place, and - unexpectedly - they even offered to pick me up from the airport.

After checking in, I discovered they had both a sauna and a hot tub available  and what followed was a beautifully simple yet effective thermal experience and oh! The hot tub was a highlight in its own right. Set outdoors in the dark, it created a calm, almost cinematic atmosphere.

Oh! What a place!

HOT Tub

What stood out:

  • Adjustable jet strength — allowing for a personalised massage experience

  • Subtle coloured lighting — adding to the ambience without feeling artificial

Sitting there under the night sky, surrounded by shifting colours and warm water, set the tone perfectly for what followed.

🌿 The Sauna

The sauna itself is a compact 4-person space, and this worked very much in its favour.

  • Heater: Harvia electric heater

  • Heat-up time: impressively fast

  • Löyly: strong, immediate, and well-distributed

Because of the smaller size, the heat and steam didn’t get lost, instead, the löyly wrapped around you quickly and evenly. It created a much more intimate and intense experience compared to larger saunas.

The glass wall added a really nice touch -  opening up the space visually and preventing it from feeling enclosed.

💸 £15/hour — fair, simple, and a good start (and they have a minibar on site with really affordable pieces!)

❄️ Cooling Down

There was:

  • A small changing room

  • A shower (which I used for cooling down)

While there was no cold plunge, I actually enjoyed improvising: stepping outside and walking barefoot on the grass to cool down. It added a raw, natural element to the experience that felt very aligned with outdoor sauna culture.

⭐ Overall Impression

This is a simple, accessible, and genuinely enjoyable sauna setup.

What makes it stand out is a subtle sense of luxury, created through thoughtful details rather than excess:

  • The hot tub lighting, with its changing colours, enhances the surrounding environment beautifully

  • The sauna delivers effective, consistent heat

  • A cosy, well-sized yet minimalistic design that works in its favour

  • A relaxing outdoor space, complete with seating and a large grassy area

  • With almost zero light pollution, the setting offers something quite special; if you take a moment to lie back on the grass, you can simply look up and watch the stars.

Would I return?

Absolutely!

Follow along as we build something different. 🌿🔥
